He has quickly cemented his place in the logo design industry through hard work and dedication. An active participant on MycroBurst.com, Luis now has 22 contest wins under his belt and is one of the most consistent performers on the site. Q1: How did you get into designing logos?

A: I started to design some drafts for my school work, during college. I learned some design skills by myself and after one year of learning and school work, I discovered my love for logo designing. I really enjoy it and I find it a great way to express my creativity.

Q2: How did you come across MycroBurst.com?

A: It was luck actually. One day while learning tutorials about Adobe Illustrator, I found a link that took me to MycroBurst.com. I believe my love for designing brought me here.

Q3: Describe your work process? How do you go about creating such beautiful logos?

A: I start out by imagining concepts and thinking shapes in order to understand what each project needs. Then I start drawing my ideas to develop a concept that fulfills what the contest holder communicates in his brief. I try to be original in my work. I always give my very best to every project I undertake.

Q4: You have won 22 design contests now. What is the secret behind your success?

My secret is that I always give my best. I get involved in the project and try to understand what the client needs. I get creative by letting my imagination flow and having lots of fun.

Q5: How do you deal with the competing with other fellow Designers? Surely it must be intimidating at times? icon smile Designer of the Month – Introducing Insignia001!

A: Of course! There are a lot of great designers out there. I’m still learning and want to keep learning from the best. I read a lot about talented designers from around the world. I participate by respecting each designer and his/her work. I’ve seen amazing designs over here. They motivate me to improve my work every day.

Q6: How do you go about choosing the projects? Is there any particular criteria that you follow?

A: Each project is a challenge, not only in a competitive way but also a challenge for my creativity. I try to compete in every project to prove to myself that I can develop any kind of design.

Q7: Name three things/attributes that every designer should have or try to incorporate.

A: Creativity, Originality and Hard work.

Q8: Name three things that designers should always be vary of or should not do.

A: The things to avoid are rip-offs, copying in general and trying to make a design in less than an hour. That’s miserable. A logo must be unique. By copying a logo, it loses its magic. A designer needs to work on details. It makes a design more attractive to anyone who sees it. Hard work makes all the difference.

Q9: What do you love most about being a designer?

A: I love being able to express myself and create what my imagination can develop. It’s a proud feeling when my work gets chosen and becomes the image for companies around the world.

Q10: Lastly describe your overall experience about being a designer at MycroBurst.com?

A: Well, I’m a beginner designer in general terms. I’ve been designing for almost a year and a half. When I first found out about MycroBurst.com, I started to develop ideas for logo contest there. Winning my first contest was a great experience. MycroBurst.com has helped me to improve my design skills. Each contest won or not, has taught me something new.

Those logos are pretty lame but still, there are some nice ones. However, that glare/glossy effect on the titles looks so ridiculos these days and is really really not professional. Just my 2 cents. Nothing personal.

I agree with you that “NOT to make a design in less than an hour” I really hated when I saw a winning design which is not properly done. keep it up the good works!… Cheers!

insignia001 An honest well done on your wins mate! I’m a beginner on this site myself…although I have been an art director/designer for over ten years now :) Although I like the logos you produced, I must agree a little bit with Jack..in that.. in my opinion a logo should work without shines, reflections, glows and sometimes..yes…gradients. These “embellishments” limit the eventual client’s possibilities to use his logo on different media. Then again… I realised from many comments I see on this site that there is a tendency for the client to request these effects…..so sometimes even a beautiful logo ends up going through the waxing department for a polishing before it’s sent back to the client!…Sad!
