MycroBurst Designer Spotlight: Zorica!
Tuesday 11 October 2011< | Jessica KornfeindMycroBurst is extremely blessed to have such a talented design community. We are thrilled to have new designers registering at MycroBurst.com each day! Today we are introducing you to Zorica, one of our newer designers!
Zorica took some time to speak with us and we are ecstatic to learn more about her and why she has decided to join our amazing community! She has already began growing her MycroBurst portfolio, all designs included in this post are Zorica’s. Let’s jump right into the conversation, shall we? Introducing … Zorica!
MB: Hello Zorica, I hope all is well with you! What has gotten you interested in designing, in general?
Zorica: Well, I [went] to a design high school, after that I [went] to the Faculty of Technical Science here in Novi Sad, department of Architecture. Now, I am [studying] for my Bachelor’s degree, I hope [I will get it] soon
.
As student in Architecture, design was one of [main topics] in any of my architectural subjects. I use a lot of design programs, surfing internet and reading books [to learn] about design and architecture. I try to find inspiration all around me. Now, designing graphic, illustrative, interior and architectural design [has] become my life style.
MB: Wow, sounds like you have quite a background in design! Cheers to you! I see you are one of our new designers at MycroBurst, what has drawn you to our website?
Z: Nothing specific. One day while I was surfing through internet I saw an e-commercial about MB and the next thing I [knew I] was on your page making my profile!
MB: Well we’re glad you stumbled upon us! What are you hoping for while using MycroBurst?
Z: Well, I hope I will win more and more projects! Seriously, I really hope I will have success in MB, meet new and interesting people and make future business partners.
MB: I think you are on your way to having continued success! Let’s go back a little bit, what was the first thing (if you can recall) that you ever designed?
Z: It was pretty long ago, but I remember [what I first designed was] my first handmade picture frame in elementary school. After, I always [continued to do] creative stuff. My first serious design was in high school; I designed an interior of one apartment.
MB: Impressive! I see you have quite a variety of design skills and styles. Where do you get your inspiration for your designs?
Z: Everywhere around me, mostly in nature.
MB: Seeing as you have so many exceptional design styles and inspiration, what is your favorite thing to design?
Z: Architectural and graphic design for sure.
MB: Interesting, having a diverse background can really help you to continually grow your design skills. What do you like best about designing?
Z: Design is way of life, [it is] who u are. I like design of any kind where you can express yourself and show “another side” of you. In my case, l love designing because it makes me happy and l love my job, [from which I earn a living]! [At] the end of the day we are all doing something for a living, the only difference is that some of us do that job with love and some do not. I love my job and love to design.
MB: What a great perspective! If you could share three pieces of advice with other designers, what would you tell them?
Z: Be creative; always give your best and someone will recognize that; don`t copy. Your design is your signature.
MB: That’s quality advice. Now I know you’ve only been a designer for MycroBurst for a short time, but in that time what do you like most about designing at MycroBurst?
Z: MycroBurst is great way to show people your work and who u are. [Another] great thing is that MB is simple to use, and a good way to make business partners and friends.
MB: We’re glad you are enjoying your time with us thus far! Aside from designing, what do you enjoy to do in your free time?
Z: In my free time I like to hang out with my friends, read a good book or watch a movie. Also, I am a big fan of photography so when l have time l like to take photos and “play” with them in photoshop.
Thank you, Zorica, for spending some time with us! We have all enjoyed learning about you and your background in design. We wish you continued success and a long career with MycroBurst!

MycroBurst Designer Spotlight: Hatter!
Tuesday 4 October 2011< | Jessica KornfeindWelcome to another week of MycroBurst’s Designer Spotlight! We are taking some time to meet and talk with so many of our designers and then showcasing their skills on our blog – we hope you are all enjoying learning about our designers as much as we are!
Today’s designer is Hatter, from the UK. By looking at her MycroBurst profile, you can tell she has an impressive skill set! How did she get to be the talented designer she is today? Great question … it’s a good thing we recently spoke with Hatter, let’s see what she had to say!
MycroBurst (MB): Hello Hatter! Thank you for allowing us to interview you for our Designer Spotlight! So let’s start off with understanding something pretty basic; how did you get interested in designing?
Hatter (H): When I was small, I mostly spent my time playing with chalk in the playground. While all the other kids were playing hopskotch and tag, I would sit in a corner drawing figures on the ground. As a child, I was always drawn to watching cartoons – an artistic style that is still a favourite of mine. Since childhood, I have developed a deep respect for this style as it continues to offer me the opportunity to enjoy vivid colours and a purity of form.
(MB): How interesting! It’s great to see your interest started at a young age, showing natural born talent! If you remember, what was the first thing you ever designed?
(H): I got my first commission when I was ten. My school had a jumble sale poster competition – I won it. I drew an elephant that was pulling and throwing clothes out of a cardboard box.
The school declared me the outright winner. There was normally a heat with this kind of competition, but this time, they were sure of the winner from the start. They later told me that what they loved about my design was: all the vibrant colours, the humour of it, and that the design had so much movement and life in it.
(MB): Success at a young age, congrats on that – very impressive! So where do you get your inspiration and ideas for your unique designs?
(H): Origination is something I feel I was born with. I’m a bit like Mozart in the sense that all his musical ideas came to him ‘whole’ – he never made them up as he went along.
My ideas come in the same way: as soon as I read a client’s spec, I have the idea for what I want to create and design. Where the ideas come from is a mystery – as it is for many artists.
(MB): I can see the originality in your designs – it is a true definition of custom design! Contests aside, what is your favorite thing to design?
(H): I love working with character illustrations and mascots. Since childhood, I have always felt moved to translate the more human qualities into a design. I find so much design work lacks humour and life. When these qualities exist in a design, that design contains more energy, movement, and power – it has more presence.
There is a designer whose work I really admire for these reasons: MNorth - her work has impact and packs a punch. (Visit MNorth’s MycroBurst profile!)
(MB): One can definitely see the energy you are describing in your designs! That being said, what do you believe is your design specialty (ex: logos, stationery)?
(H): Logos, Mascots, and illustrations.
(MB): Your passion for design work shines through in the designs that you create. What do you like best about designing?
(H): One of the things I love about design work, is the buzz I get from helping a client visually realize their company identity. It’s like putting all their feelings, aspirations, and hopes for their company, in a picture.
There is something else: the relationship I often have with a client. When a client is extremely excited about a design I have created for them – for their company – they often see their company in a new light. And having a brand new logo captures what the company stands for – in an image. When I feel that I have accurately created, and matched, a design with that identity, I know that my client can have the maximum impact they need.
(MB): What a great outlook to have, I’m sure that definitely enables your continued success! If you could give other designers some advice, what would you tell them?
(H): As I’ve mentioned above, I don’t know where my ideas come from, but I know that they come from within me.
I would say to any designer who is serious about developing creatively:
Go within for inspiration. Dig as deep as you can within your own experience and imagination to find your ideas. There are two pay-offs doing things this way: first, you know that your designs are yours. Second, you, as a creative designer, are an artist, rather than being an “aspiring” one.
(MB): I’m sure all of the MycroBurst designers appreciate the great advice! What do you like about working for MycroBurst?
(H): The community factor.
(MB): We love our community too. :) Other than designing, what do you like to do in your free time? What are your interests and hobbies?
(H): When I’m not designing, I teach Tai Chi. A balanced inner world creates a balanced outer one – creative design included!

MycroBurst Designer Spotlight: AbsolutMudd!
Friday 9 September 2011< | Jessica Kornfeind
At MycroBurst.com we have over 30,000 talented designers that submit to design contest at MycroBurst. We wanted to give all of you a sneak peak into what our designers are like and what makes them tick. Through our Designer Spotlight, we’re going to be able to do just that by featuring designers!
AbsolutMudd is one of MycroBurst’s top graphic designers, winning over 100 projects. AbsolutMudd, who currently resides in the UK, spoke with us briefly to get an inside look into who she is and what makes her so successful.
Let’s jump right into the interview, shall we?
MycroBurst (MB): How did you get interested in designing?
AbsolutMudd (AM): I was the only student in my class to have good skills in drawing. I used to take my classmates’ and friends’ work home to help them get good grades. Used to have piles of science journals and worked late into the night to help them get extra numbers.
I was very much encouraged by my family members as well – gift wraps, birthday cards, greeting cards were what we never purchased, they were always hand-made.
.
| MB: If you remember, what was the first thing you ever designed? | ![]() |
| AM: It was a line drawing of a happy girl. That was in grade one. (The image to the right is a recreation of this drawing, done by AbsolutMudd!) |
MB: Where do you get your inspiration and ideas for your designs?
AM: My source of inspiration is my surroundings and things I experience in daily life. I see pictures as vector art and extract shapes from them.
MB: What is your favorite thing to design?
AM: I love minimalistic approach in design. I admire designs by Daniel Watson. I think his designs are simple, yet convey the right message.
I also like designs by CherryPopDesign. Her drawing style is simple and appealing.
I personally like designing for non-profit organizations, or topics related to helping people and/or learning; but usually try working on different topics to expand my knowledge, learn new drawing style/effects and have variety of logos on my portfolio.
MB: What do you like best about designing?
AM: The best thing about designing which almost every designer would agree that it is a (visual) communication tool that interacts/speaks to our target audience to convey adequate messages within seconds.
.
We asked AbsolutMudd if she had any tips for other designers. This is what she had to say:
AM:
- Be honest to yourself and your work.
- Get inspired and try not to ‘copy’ concepts — designers put in a lot of time and effort to research and communicate with Project Holders to nail ideas.
- Be respectful to your profession/community that helps you earn and live a better life.
.
MB: What do you like about working for MycroBurst?
AM: MycroBurst as a company is honest and tries its level best to support ‘original’ designers; at the same time play fair with the Project Holders. They do need improvements in few areas, but hey, we all do!
MB: Other than designing, what do you like to do in your free time? What are your interests?
AM: Currently, I work on MycroBurst contests after office hours, and help a friend with a blog. I usually don’t get time to do anything else at the moment.
AbsolutMudd would like us to leave you with this – her favorite logo that she has designed thus far. It was for the Taylor Love Childhood Cancer Awareness design contest.
A big thanks goes to AbsolutMudd for speaking with us and enabling all of us to get to know her a little better!

New MycroBurst Website Upgrades!
Friday 15 July 2011< | Jessica KornfeindMycroBurst.com has enhanced a feature of our website. Thanks to feedback from designers, we’ve upgraded the Private Messaging feature on the site.
This upgrade was necessary to separate invitations from general private messages. It has also made it easier to send, delete and save important messages.
Let’s take a deeper look into the new system!
This image shows what the new “Private Messages” screen looks like.
Notice the right “My Projects” tabs look a little different.
Once in the “My Projects” tab you can navigate through your messages several different ways. On the left bar you can look through your Inbox, Sent Items and Compose.
When you choose “Inbox” from the left tab it will enable you to move throughout your Inbox. If you notice, in the image below, you can move through your inbox with tabs. These tabs will all of your messages, invitations and alerts.
If you go click to the “Sent Items” tab on the left side, this is the screen you will see.
As you notice, the tabs on the top are the same. This is because you can skim through the messages, invitations and alerts you have sent to others.
Lastly, clicking on the “compose” tab on the left side will bring you to this screen.
The “Compose” tab is where you can create messages to send to others. All you have to do is enter the username of the person you want to send a message to, the subject and message. And that’s it!
Designers, log in to www.MycroBurst.com and check out your new inbox. Don’t forget to enter a design contest today!
